We return to i-80 Gold which last featured here on September 23rd as insiders bought after the company announced it was buying the Lone Tree and Buffalo Mountain gold deposits and infrastructure as well as a deal to acquire the Ruby Hill Mine all in Nevada. The stock moved higher after our report but stalled on October 14th as it approach its 52-week high of $3.54. After the close that day the company announced it had closed its Lone Tree and Buffalo Mountain acquisitions, but investors subsequently sold the news. Even some high-grade drill results from its ongoing underground drill program at the company's Granite Creek property, also in Nevada couldn’t halt the slide. Meanwhile insiders are buying the pullback. Perhaps investors are still awaiting details on the proposed financing with Orion Mine Finance which could reach as high as US$240 million. That said we expect the general malaise in the precious metals industry area is also at work. Perhaps the Federal Reserve's policy announcement and press conference on Wednesday may provide a spark for the gold group. Gold bullion may just regain its shine with investors if the central bank becomes too hawkish and increases the risk of a recession. In our view, gold could benefit as an economic hedge if the Fed appears to be on the road to excessive monetary tightening. In the meantime, i-80 Gold insiders have been buying that pullback and that is something to keep in mind. Well that’s it for today.
